More than three hundred children have signed up to take part next Sunday, October 8, in the first Race of Schools of the Alberto Contador Foundation. The number of participants could still increase, as the official closure of the inscriptions is scheduled tomorrow at 8 pm.
The races will begin at La Teneria Circuit in Pinto, starting at 10 am and will be divided into the four usual categories: Promises (up to 8 years), Beginners (9 to 10 years), Fingerlings (11 to 12 years) and Infatiles (13 to 14 years). Due to the high number of participants, in some categories qualifying races will be held, while kids not enrolled in a Federated School will be able to compete in popular categories with a similar format.
At the moment, the Plaza Eboli School of the Alberto Contador Foundation has registered inscriptions from participants not only from all over Madrid, but also from many other provinces and regions of Spain, such as Seville, Cádiz, Badajoz, Cáceres, Valencia, Castellón, Alicante, Asturias, Navarre, Salamanca, Avila, Ciudad Real, Segovia and Toledo.
The circuit in which the various races will be held has a length of 1,800 meters. Federated ‘promises’ cyclists will ride one lap; the ‘beginners’, 2 laps; the ‘fingerlings’ 6 laps, and the ‘infantiles’ 10 laps, although the Technical Jury will take the final decisions depending on the number of participants and qualifying races to celebrate. All riders who take the start on any of the scheduled events will receive a commemorative medal and a t-shirt plus a bag of gifts. There will be trophy delivery for the top three in each category.
After four seasons of work, each year with more children attending, the Plaza Éboli School and the Alberto Contador Foundation have launched this first competition, which has been welcomed by all lovers of cycling with a large participation, as well as with the disinterested collaboration of many sponsors, led by Pinto Town Hall.
